Hello, my dear sisters and brothers,
In a few short weeks, we will commemorate an event that occurred nearly two millennia ago. On the first Easter morning, Mary Magdalene and the disciples found the stone rolled away from the tomb and became the first mortal witnesses of the greatest event in world history…the atonement and resurrection of our Savior.
Last week we sent a special communication to bishops and ward leaders asking them to plan a special Sacrament Service on April 17 with messages and music to inspire and express the “welcoming” love of the Savior. We sincerely hope that each of us will choose to gather on that day to joyfully worship and remember Jesus’ gifts of grace and mercy… freely available to all who will accept them.
As part of our preparation for this special day we humbly ask all members to personally invite a neighbor, a friend, or loved one to worship with us.
Who and how we invite should be a decision guided by the Spirit. May we suggest three keys in doing this…
Fast and Pray to know who to invite
Pray with faith to know how and when to extend a personal invitation
Act in faith, then leave the decision in the hands of the person invited without pressure or obligation
With General Conference scheduled on the first Sunday in April, we have set aside March 27 as our “April” Fast Sunday. May we suggest that individuals and families pray and fast on this day to know who and how to invite. This will give us time before Easter to receive spiritual direction and extend our invitation.
We testify that as we each prayerfully seek to share the Savior’s love through a personal invitation, we will receive our Father’s help and guidance. Many neighbors, friends, and family members will respond with kindness and gratitude. We will see miracles and we will feel the Savior’s love more fully and deeply in our lives.
Please note that prior to Easter, we will host several special community events in which loved ones and friends may also choose to participate. We will share details for these events very soon.
2,3 April - General Conference
10 April - Messiah “Sing In”
16 April - Community Easter Egg Hunt
We invite all to spread the light and love of the Savior in our community during this special time of year.
With genuine love and respect for each one,
Taylorsville Stake Presidency
