The Utah Area Presidency has invited all members of the church aged 50 and older to attend a special broadcast on Sunday, March 19 from 6 PM to 7 PM.   The broadcast will be viewed at the Stake Center (1350 West 4800 South).   More details

New Members

On Friday, March 3, Teagan Morrey was baptized by his father, Richard, in the River View Ward.

The following day, Saturday, March 4,  Markeesha Duran of the Morningside Ward was baptized.  We are so thrilled to welcome these new members who have just begun their journeys on the covenant path.

Weekly Message: Prepare…then Partake

The tradition of “Spring Cleaning” dates back many years and according to articles I have read, may even have origins in some religious traditions and practices.  Regardless of its origins, I believe there is genuine value in periodically stopping to assess the cleanliness and orderliness of our lives as well as our homes.  

I believe our weekly worship services can be a wonderful way to do this.  One of the questions we ask in each temple recommend interview goes as follows…

“Do you strive to keep the Sabbath day holy, both at home and at church; attend your meetings; prepare for and worthily partake of the sacrament; and live your life in harmony with the laws and commandments of the gospel?

I know we all lead busy lives and there is so much to do, but did you notice that we are invited to not only partake worthily of the sacrament, but to also prepare for it?

Our preparation for the sacrament might include self-reflection and consideration of things we need to change in our lives.  It may also prompt us to reach out to someone we may have offended or who needs our ministering.

 I hope we each will take time weekly to prepare for the sacrament before we partake of the sacrament.  

As you set aside time weekly to do this, I promise our Father in Heaven will reveal changes He would like you to make in your life that will help you grow closer to Him and become a better disciple.  (Ether 12:27)
