New Ward Boundaries March 2024

Beginning March 3rd, 2024 the ward boundaries will change from the ones in white below to the colored ones.  The Morningside, and Paradise wards are in white and will not be affected.  Please see the full letter below this image.

Dear sisters and brothers of the Taylorsville Utah Stake,

For some time, we have been aware of changing membership trends in our stake.  After prayerfully counseling with stake, area, and general church leaders regarding these trends, the Riverbend Ward has been discontinued.  Accordingly, the boundaries of the Oak Hill, River View, Taylors Grove, and First Wards have been adjusted.  These new boundaries will take effect as of March 3, 2024.

As a presidency, we wish to express heartfelt appreciation to all of the members and leaders (past and current) of the Riverbend ward.  This past week, as we interviewed and released Bishop Jorgenson along with his counselors Derek Payne and Roy Nicholson, as well as the Relief Society President, Sandy Ott, and the Elders Quorum President, George Ott, it was easy to feel the love with which they have ministered to the members of their ward. It was also easy to feel the love the Lord has for them for their diligent service.  They have ministered in countless, Christ-centered ways under challenging circumstances. 

Other leaders will also be released as a result of these boundary adjustments. President Sterling Tholen will be released as a counselor in the Taylors Grove Ward bishopric. Sister Andrea Chapman will be released as the Relief Society President of the Oak Hill ward. To them and to all the others who will be released, we express our gratitude and extend this promise; that your sincere efforts in the work of salvation and exaltation will be remembered and honored by our Father in Heaven and counted to your benefit. 

The major boundary adjustments are outlined below.  For location-specific information please consult the map found on the stake website.

• Riverbend ward is discontinued.

• Paradise, Morningside, and Millrace Ward boundaries are unchanged.  

• River View Ward will begin meeting in the East Building (895 W 4800 South) at 10:30 AM on Sunday, March 3, 2024

• Members of the Riverbend ward residing south of 4800 South will now be in the Oak Hill Ward

• Members of the Riverbend and Oak Hill wards residing north of 4800 South will now be in the River View Ward

• Members residing in Mark Twain and Atherton Apartments are in the Oak Hill Ward

• Members residing in the Monte Vista Community are in the Oak Hill Ward

• Members residing in the Majestic Oaks Community are in the River View Ward

• Members residing in the Majestic Meadows Community are in the Taylors Grove Ward

• Members residing in the Bridgeside Apartments are still in the Morningside Ward

• Former members of the Taylors Grove Ward residing on the West side of 1250 West South of Marinwood Ave (including Saxton Place) are now in the Taylorsville First Ward

As a presidency, we realize that changes can be disruptive and frustrating. But experience has taught that change can also be energizing and uplifting. 

We strongly believe these changes will serve the best interest of the members of our stake. We encourage all members to be patient, welcoming, and inviting as we all adapt to these new circumstances.  All of the affected bishops have been provided with the necessary member lists to make the transition as smooth as possible.  Our hope is that each of us may seek the Spirit of the Lord and unite in love and friendship with fellow ward members, friends, and neighbors.  May we stay completely focused on our goal to prepare for the opening of the Taylorsville Temple and ultimately for the Second Coming of our Savior.

Desde hace algún tiempo, somos conscientes de los cambios en las tendencias de membresía en nuestra estaca. Después de asesorar en oración con los líderes de la iglesia de estaca, área y en general sobre estas tendencias, el Barrio Riverbend ha sido descontinuado. En consecuencia, se han ajustado los límites de los barrios Oak Hill, River View, Taylors Grove y First. Estos nuevos límites seran efectivos a partir del 3 de marzo de 2024.
