Our sincere acts of kindness, as aspiring disciples of Christ, are... how our Heavenly Father molds us into the pattern of our Savior.
Hello everyone,...and Happy Thanksgiving 2021!
In the 2nd chapter of Mosiah, King Benjamin makes his, now famous, statement:
"...when ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God."
This simple statement of fact describes a clear and direct connection between the two great commandments...loving God and loving our neighbor.
Our sincere acts of kindness, as aspiring disciples of Christ, are simply expressions of gratitude and love toward God. We understand further that sincere kindness, rather than being some sort of meritorious accumulation which we hope will qualify us for sainthood, instead is the process by which Heavenly Father molds our character into the pattern of our Savior.
For weeks, you have been collecting needed food and this Thursday morning will be assembling and delivering Thanksgiving meals. Our offering of food and our time will not only bless our community; they will change our very nature. They will change the way we think about and see the world.
Shirleen and I will be in Virginia anticipating the birth of a new grandson on Friday, but we will be with you all in spirit, in Taylorsville.
I #givethanks for each of you who quietly go about doing good. There is no more significant or genuine way to show gratitude and devotion to God than by loving His children. Thank you for thinking of others and reaching out to others in need.
Today, of all days, let us offer thanks for His love and mercy. Let us praise Him and seek to become more like Him through sincere kindness to others.
Thank you!
I love you!
President Gardner
