Because of Jesus Christ (Video)
Throughout the pandemic, I have been impressed at the unique ways individuals, families, organizations, and wards have creatively connected and ministered to each other. I’m especially grateful for all who have worked very hard to make our Sunday meeting broadcasts, viable and worthwhile.
Of course, we also recall the many references in the scriptures that teach us the importance of gathering together for instruction, worship, and receiving the sacred emblems of the sacrament. With these in mind, we extend an enthusiastic invitation to all members and friends to attend the sessions (schedule) of our upcoming stake conference in person, if possible.
The Stake Center will be set up for all members and friends who desire to attend in person. We hope that this conference will be a celebration of our ability to once again meet together!
Of course, we recognize that there are still a variety of factors, including health concerns, which make it prudent for some to participate via technology. For such situations, we will offer Zoom links for each session of the conference and respect your inspired use of these tools to meet individual and family needs.
We are thrilled to announce that Elder Shane M. Bowen of the Seventy, will be our presiding authority for the conference. We will also have stake members and the stake presidency as speakers. Elder Bowen is expected to take a substantial portion of each session to provide counsel for us. We look forward anxiously to this great privilege.
Personal Preparation for Stake Conference
We invite everyone to prepare spiritually for this conference through personal study and prayer. As you may be aware, the Jordan River Temple will be closed between May 16 and 30, so we invite all who are able, to visit the temple prior to the 16th, or visit another nearby temple. You may even want to visit the Taylorsville Temple. There are missionaries and a “visitor center” on the construction site where young and old can learn more about this amazing gift from our Father in Heaven.
We invite everyone to continue your temple and family history work prior to the conference. Many have expressed a wonderful and dramatic surge in the Lord’s influence in their lives as a result of their efforts.
May our daily efforts to live the gospel increase our faith and help us feel the grace and love of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
All my love,
President Gardner
