Hello beloved sisters and brothers,
Whew! This has been an action-packed week for the Taylorsville Stake.
Last Saturday, Sister Phyllis Maez was baptized by Elder Erickson. What a sweet woman with a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Phyllis, we feel grateful and privileged to welcome you as a new member of the Oak Hill Ward, the Taylorsville Stake, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. On Tuesday, the Young Women from the stake began this year’s stake Girls Camp and the Mutual Dell Camp near Mt. Timpanogas. On Thursday, the Bishoprics and Stake Presidency, along with their wives were invited to share dinner and a special campfire program followed by ward testimony meetings. These experiences are among the most important and choice experiences we have as a Presidency. I wish to express my deep appreciation to ALL of the leaders, parents, and youth who worked so hard to make the 2023 Girls Camp such an uplifting, enlightening, and inspiring experience. It is easy to see why President Nelson is so confident in the capacity of our youth for good. Click here for photos

Weekly Message: A Beacon of Hope…coming soon
This year’s Girls Camp had the theme: “Gnome Sweet Home” and emphasized in such fun and creative ways how we can prepare to enter and serve in the Taylorsville Temple.
A very timely topic…
We are living in an unprecedented and historic time. On the one hand, we see a darkening horizon as “end times” prophecies are being fulfilled. And in the same moment, we are witnessing the fulfillment of a different kind of end time prophecy…the exponential increase in the construction of temples.
It is literally, the “best of times” BECAUSE it is “the worst of times”.
It is so exciting to anticipate the unveiling of the renewed Salt Lake Temple AND also prepare for the opening of our own Taylorsville Temple!
The temple is our solid foundation…a beacon of light and hope. All of us, and especially our youth, need to know this. I am so grateful our Young Women leaders focused on preparing for the temple at Girls Camp this year.
President Russell M. Nelson, taught,
"Your worship in the temple and your service there for your ancestors will bless you with increased personal revelation and peace and will fortify your commitment to keep God’s commandments." ("The Spirit of Elijah," April 2018 General Conference)
The temple is a tangible expression of God's love and His desire to bless all of His children as we face the challenges of our day. The personal ordinances we receive and the service we provide there for loved ones beyond the veil bring perspective, comfort, and hope.
This year in our Ward Conferences, we have been focusing on Centering our Lives on the Savior. Spending time in the temple can help us do this. Echoing the promise of President Nelson, Elder David A. Bednar, promised that spending time in the temple would increase our “companionship of the Holy Ghost." (Honorably Hold a Name and Standing, October 2009 General Conference)
I pray each of us will look for ways to spend more time in the temple and increase our preparatory efforts for the opening of the Taylorsville Temple. As we do, we will feel the fulfillment of the promises from anointed servants of God and feel His “glory round about [us]" (Doctrine and Covenants 109:22)
I love you all.
President Gardner
