Weekly Message: Seeing Christ
As disciples of Christ, we believe in the power of prayer.
Before we begin our weekly presidency meetings and before each stake council or high council meeting we ask those attending to share the names of individuals who may need our faith, prayers, and ministering. We then include these individuals by name in our prayer.
I hope each of us in our daily devotionals will make it a point to petition Heavenly Father to bless our loved ones in need and also seek our Father’s guidance for how we might minister to them.
As I have been studying messages from the October General Conference, I recently re-read the talk by Tracy Y. Browning, titled Seeing More of Jesus Christ in Our Lives. I particularly noted this phrase…
“...the Savior invites us to see our lives through Him in order to see more of Him….
With the world becoming more and more confusing every day, couldn’t we all benefit from seeing more of Christ in our lives? When we see life and world events through the lens of His gospel, our view is very different from that of popular culture.
I recently received a note from a wonderful brother in our stake who has been serving as a senior service missionary for more than six years. He expressed to me with great emotion how his missionary service has changed his attitude and life perspective. He, like many of you, has discovered the truth of Sister Browning’s message. He is experiencing the profound inner joy of a disciple of Christ. His faith and testimony are growing stronger. He knows, as Sister Browining testified…
“He directs our mouths to testify of Him, our hands to lift and serve as He would lift and serve, our eyes to see the world and each other as He does… And as we allow Him to direct us in all things, we receive testimony that ‘all things denote there is a God,’ because where we look for Him we will find Him—each and every day.”
To the many unseen “servants” in our Zion community…who willingly offer their abilities and time…whose efforts may only be known to God,...
I say thank you.
And bless you…
May we all know the peace, rest and joy that come through that kind of consecration.
I love you all.
